Trump's daughter-in-law Lara is fond of politics
Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of US President Donald Trump, is reportedly considering entering politics.
The New York Times and Politico published a report on the matter on Thursday. The news agency AFP reported.
According to reports, Lara is thinking of contesting the 2022 Senate election from her home state of North Carolina.
Trump, the Republican candidate in the November 3 US presidential election, lost to his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden. But he has been refusing to accept his defeat.
He made baseless allegations of vote fraud. Trump hopes to have another round in the White House after the election results are reversed. In the wake of such a political crisis, news came out that Lara, Trump's daughter-in-law, was interested in entering politics.
Trump's second son is Eric Trump's wife Lara. Citing three unnamed sources, The New York Times reported that Lara told her aides she was considering running in the 2022 Senate election.
North Carolina Republican Senator Richard Barr has said he will not run for re-election in 2022.
Politico said potential Republican senator candidates in North Carolina include Trump's current chief of staff, Mark Meadows, former governor Pat McCrory, and the outgoing Lt. Col. Governor Dan Forrest.
